1. There are five species of rhinos. These include two African rhino species- black and white rhinos. The other three are Asian rhino species that include Greater one-horned, Sumatran, and, Javan rhinos
2. Rhinos can weigh up to 3 tonnes. Sumatran rhinos are the smallest but they can still weigh about 600kg. white rhinos are the largest weighing up to 3500kg

6. Rhinos have poor vision. Their eyesight isn’t great and is unable to see a motionless person at a distance of 30m. They mainly rely on their strong sense of smell.
7. They communicate through honks, sneezes, and poo. Rhinos make an array of funny noises when communicating. During confrontations, they growl and make trumpet calls. Black rhinos snort when they’re angry and make sneezes like screams or alarms scream when scared, and Mmwonk when relaxed.
8. They love mud. Rhinos can often be seen around rolling in mud giving themselves a protective mud coat to keep them cool and stop insects from biting them. Asian rhinos are excellent swimmers, unlike African rhinos which can drown in deep waters.
9. Javan rhinos are only found in one small. Ujung Kulon national park a world heritage site is home to the last remaining wild Javan rhinos on earth.
10. Rhinos are under threat. Poaching gangs are becoming increasingly sophisticated. In some cases, helicopters are used to track rhinos and once the animals are shot with guns or tranquilizing darts, their horns are removed with chainsaws and quickly airlifted away.
