KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK.
This is the most isolated park in Uganda but still stands out to be one of the best virgin places every wildlife viewer can ever visit. The park harbors a couple of extinct species of Wildlife that can’t be found in any National Park which in return gives the traveler an exceptional wildlife experience.
CLIMATE AND WEATHER
The park is in a semi-arid region with average annual temperatures and sandy oils with low plant nutrients.
INHABITANTS
The park is inhabited by the Karamojong in the Karamoja region that originally lived a nomadic lifestyle with large herds of livestock like sheep, cattle, goats, and chicken
PARK MANAGEMENT
The park is managed by a government body UWA that was entrusted with managing all wildlife resources. The body is a wildlife custodian including mammals, birds, reptiles, etc. In Kidepo, UWA head offices are located at Apoka
HOW TO GET THERE
There are two entrance gates to the park.
§ Nataba gate is the main entry point that connects to the southeastern side
§ Travelers from the southwestern side of Kitgum and Gulu use the Lokumoit gate
§ Those arriving by flight will use the Lomej airfield and get clearance to access the park at Apoka main offices

§ Pack light clothes preferably dark and long-sleeved
§ Confirm accommodation booking before the travel
§ Adhere to park regulations
§ Insect repellent is essential because high temperatures are conducive for insects and bugs
§ 4WD vehicles are essential in the rainy season
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The park is accessible all throughout the year based on the client’s interests but it’s best during the dry seasons of September to march when the park is less crowded.
