The fabled “Mountains of the Moon” in Rwenzori Mountains National Park, one of Uganda’s UNESCO heritage sites lie in Western Uganda along the Congolese border where the snow-covered equatorial peaks rise to a height of 5,109m and the lower slopes are blanketed in moorland and rich montane forest. Most of the park is accessible only to hikers although the magnificent scenery and 19 Albertine Rift endemics would be ample reward for Birders. Rwenzori Mountains National Park protects the eastern slopes and glacial peaks of the 120km-long Rwenzori Mountains, a world-class hiking and mountaineering destination.

Queen Elizabeth national parks is undoubtedly Uganda’s most famous national park and traveler’s destination. The presence of varied bionetwork to mention the beautiful lakes, extensive savanna,the natural forests and fertile swamps hence making it the best place the big games, ten primate species of course including chimps , 600 bird species. Situated close to mountain Rwenzori, the park’s sites include several beautiful crates lakes that winding through the rolling hills, the panoramic display of the Kazinga channel with an awesome view of the hippos, buffaloes, elephants and several bird species lined up at the shores. With a continuation towards ishasha sector plains, another surprise of tree climbing lions resting on trees waiting to pounce on the Uganda Kobs and other preys will blow one a way.

Kalinzu forest reserve is an interesting destination in a very unique way. The scenic guided walks along the ridges will make you relax. Nature walks through the valleys will expose your mind to a whole new world of the forest life. During the walk in the forest you can see mountain Rwenzori, Lake George and Kazinga channel’s beauty. Kalinzu forest reserve has a number of amazing wildlife species; it has over 414 tree species with uses that will add on your knowledge about African culture. The forest also has 378 bird species that will elevate your birding experience to a whole new level, 6 different primates, 97 moths, reptiles, the flowers in the field will treat your modes right, 262 butterfly species will bring smiles on your face when you look at them, flying under the thick tree canopies in different colors.

Uganda in total has about 4950 chimpanzees and Kibale National Park holds about 1500 chimpanzees. Other primates that may be found on these guided walks include Guereza Colobus, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, L’Hoest’s Gentle ( Blue) and Red-tailed Monkeys Birds in Kibale National Park Red-winged Francolin, Red-chested Flufftail, White-naped Pigeon, Green-brested Pitta, African Pitta, Joyful Greenbul, Grey-winged Robin, Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Grey-throated Flycatcher, White-bellied Crested Flycather, Masked and Black-capped Apalises, Uganda Woodland Warbler, Chestnut-winged Starling, Orange-tufted and Tiny Sunbirds, Grey-headed Olive-back.
