The lower section of the market is primarily open-air and features numerous stalls selling fresh food. The upper section, housed in a more structured setting, includes vendors offering a variety of goods such as hardware, textiles, and electronics. Owino Market, also known as St. Balikuddembe Market, is one of the largest and busiest markets in East Africa. Located in Kampala, it covers several acres and offers a wide range of products, from second-hand clothing and household items to traditional herbal medicines and crafts. Owino is famous for its maze-like alleys, vibrant atmosphere, and the ability to bargain for nearly everything. The market is a vital part of Kampala’s economy, providing livelihoods for thousands of vendors and offering a real taste of local life and culture. Owino Market is not just a place to shop but a cultural experience, reflecting the diversity and energy of Uganda.
